A Peek Into Our Story

Hi we're Eric and Kristy Freitag!  We met in 2003 on a blind date, and the only thing I knew about him was that he was a single father with two daughters, just like myself, and a grown step son.

Eventually, with the unanimous permission of our four girls, we married in 2005 and became, (sort of) like the old tv show The Brady Bunch!  What a challenge it was to experience life anew as a blended family, and in time, teenage girls  under one roof ~ Phew!

Now we are also the very proud grandparents of six grandchildren!

It was in January 2017, when life altered in a way that is still hard to put into words.  Our youngest daughter Jamilyn Clara “Jami”, was killed in a single car roll-over accident, around the corner from our home, minutes after saying good bye to her for the last time. Life hasn’t been the same, and the fractured pieces of ourselves have slowly and painfully started to mend. When life turns upside down and you try to navigate a  new normal, you notice things in a different light.  We truly realized how short life can be - We wanted to live and live with a deeper connection to all that is around us.  Purchasing a camper for the first time didn’t seem like such a big deal … until we realized that connection to others was a huge part of our healing journey.

We used what God gave us (peaceful land - a quiet place to stay when the world is too loud, and so much love to embrace others on their own journeys through this life) and we opened Heaven In The Hills Airbnb in our little camper. Our little slice of Heaven here in the foothills!  We experienced such a rush welcoming others and getting acquainted with them during long conversations and hearing about their stories. Healing slowly started to weave its way into our hearts.  We all have a story, and once in a while if we slow down just long enough, we realize how much people want to tell their stories, to be heard.  What a privilege to be trusted by those who needed a safe place to land, or be expressed and something we have the opportunity to do now, in an even greater way than we ever imagined.

We really love connecting with others in this way and when the chance came along in 2023 to buy a beautiful piece of land from amazing folks, we dove into the dream of creating a space for everyone to do the same.  Heaven In The Hills Campground was about to become a reality!  And it's so much more than a place to park so ......

Sit by a fire, tell your stories, listen intentionally, and love those who might be family or good friends in the making.  Connection to ourselves, each other and our surroundings brings SO much healing and joy.

We hope that you will find the beauty of nature here and all that it offers to foster your sense of peace and "rightness" with the world, and deepen connections within yourself and others.

We would not be here today without all of the tremendous support and love from our family and friends ~ Thank you ALL!
